A chairde -

For those of you who own a copy of Teach Yourself Irish by Myles Dillon & Donncha Ó Cróinín, there's an opportunity coming up whereby you might study along with others around the world, lesson-by-lesson, every two weeks.

To get in on the fun, join the following Yahoo group:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TYIMunster

Here's a quote from the group's welcome message:

"Welcome to TYIMunster. This group is for those wanting to learn Munster Irish and uses the old Teach Yourself Irish book by Donncha Ó Croinín and Myles Dillon. The book is based on Irish as spoken in West Cork and, with a few minor differences, in Kerry. This is a slightly different form of Irish to that taught in the new TYI by Ó Sé and Shiels, which is standard Irish. It is also a different form of Irish to that taught by Ó Siadhail's book Learning Irish which teaches Cois Fhairrge, Co. Galway, Irish, or Now You're Talking/Irish On your Own which teaches Donegal Irish. This is not a place to argue which is the best form of Irish.

The plan is to go through the book completing one chapter roughly every 2 weeks. For some chapters that will be more than enough time, for others we may have to agree on a longer time to complete the chapter. We are able to vary the speed according to the needs of the group. I hope you will enjoy learning Irish."

A Chionaoidh,

An tusa a bheidh i bhfeighil an ghrúpa? Tá cóip de TYI1 agam a foilsíodh sa bhliain 1968. Cheannaigh mé é nuair a bhí mé sna fichidí. Chuir sé scanradh orm! :-)

Go n-éirí an fiontar leat!

Thosaigh Kevin Riley é; beidh mé i mo "Mhodhnóir" ar an grúpa, agus ag déanamh na ceachtanna chomh maith (ba mhaith liom a chur fheabhas ar mo chuid Ghaoluinne).

>>Tá cóip de TYI1 agam a foilsíodh sa bhliain 1968. >>Cheannaigh mé é nuair a bhí mé sna fichidí.

Cheannaigh mé mo chóip i 1981, ach ní bhfuair mé na céirníní ag an am sin (Fuair mé iad ar eBay an bhliain seo chaite).

>>Chuir sé scanradh orm! :-)

Is maith liom an sean-TYI; ach ní luíonn aon bhuille orm.
;-)

Le meas,
Cionaodh

The first week of December; we'll try to do one lesson every fortnight.
