How would you translate some of the following Corrs song phrases into Irish? I have an idea but I want to make sure so I don't sound silly! Go raibh maith agaibh! -Anám S.

"You're forgiven, not forgotten"
"Go on, leave me breathless"
"In the heat of summer sunshine"
"Leave me alone"

Tá tú maite, ní dearmadta
Ar aghaidh leat, fág gan anáil mé
I dteas grian an tsamhraidh
Lig dom

And all sound even cornier in Irsih than in the original English. What do you intend to do with them?

Thanks so much! My friends and I want to sing along in Irish. Maybe one day we'll get around to translating more of the songs!

Cheers,
Anám

I remember when I was eleven, at irish college in Balbriggin, we translated Dylan's 'Knocking on Heaven's Door' into Irish. God, it was awful. I have heard much buchary of Dylan's work since, but none matched. I have since come to realise that the Irish language is suited to many things, but rock is not one of them.
