Chuala an scéal seo ó m'athair cúpla laethanta seo cáite:

Duine 1 - "Tá cuma amaideach ort agus tusa ag tarraingt an théad san".
Duine 2 - "Bhuel, a dhuine uasal, bheadh cuma níos amaideach ormsa má a bhíos á bhrú".

'mar ná beidh ár leithidí arís ann'
-Tomás O'Croitháin (An t-Oiléanach)

Ceann maith. Ach tá "má" agus "dá" curtha tré chéile agat

Páid: Tá cuma amaideach ortsa ag tarraingt na téide sin
Tadhg: Bhuel, a dhuine uasail, bheadh cuma níos amaidí orm dá mbeinn á bhrú.

"dá mbeinn á brú", sa chaighdeán. Tá téad baininscneach.

Muise, nach géar atá do shúile! Ceart agat gan amhras.

Is léir go bhfuil séimhiú anseo is ansiúd de dhíth orm fós.

Ach! Ní peaca marfach é "tá an téad á bhrú agam" mar gur minic anois a cloistear a leithéid ó dheas. An ghramadach á thabhairt (!) chuin símplíochta, an dtuigeann tú!

Tabharfar dóthain ár gcrochta den téad fós dúinn, má leanann muid ar an dtéad seo.

Ná coitianta go bhfuilid siad á gcur trí chéile i gcanúint na Mumhan? Creidim gur léigheas sin áit éigin ar na mallaibh.

Is fíor do Dhomhnaillín. Úsáidtear ideir "má" agus "dá" le briathra sa mhodh coinníollach agus an deifir seo chéille eatarthu, dar le comhghleacaí liom go bhfuil eolas an-chruinn aige ar Ghaelainn Chorca Dhuibhne:

1) Má bhuailfeadh comhghleacaí leat an doras isteach anois, cad é a déarfá leis? - rud a d'fhéadfadh tarlú, coinníoll ná beadh chomh docht san.

2) Dá mbuailfeadh an Taoiseach Brian Cowan an doras isteach anois, cad é a déarfá leis? - coinníoll níos iata, rud nár dhócha dho tarlú.

Féach samplaí eile aige Diarmuid Ó Sé, mír 798 agus tá dornán samplaí eile agamsa do má + modh coinníollach ó Chléire agus Mhúsgraí.

Tá breis samplaí aiges na Bráithre, mír 32.7

A Lughaidh, i Modern Irish is ea a léigheas sin. Ar leathanach 320 scríobhann Ó Siadhail: "There is a tendency in Munster to replace with (which then, apart from the use of lenition instead of eclipsis, behaves exactly like )." M.s., "Má dhéanfá aon fheabhsú ar an dtalamh".
