Chuaigh mo dhuine, agus é beagán súgach, isteach sa stáisiún agus anonn leis go dtí oifig na dticéad.
"Cé chomh fada 's atá an turas ó Sheattle go Portland?"
"Timpeall trí uaire a chloig."
"Ceart. Agus céard faoin turas ó Phortland go Seattle?"
"'Sé an t-achar céanna é. Tógann sé an t-am céanna, trí uaire
a chloig. Cén fáth ar shíl tú go mbeadh aon difríocht ann?"
"Bhuel, níl ach seachtain ann ó Lá Nollag go Lá Caille, ach is fada an t-achar é ó Lá Caille go Lá Nollag!"

Ní féidir leat dul tríd an bhlian ach in aon treo amháin. Má théann tú ó Phortland go Seattle sa treo chéanna agus a chuaigh tú ó Sheattle go Portland, beidh an turas i bhfad níos faide ná trí uaire a chloig !

Thuig tú i gceart mé. Ag dul timpeall an domhain atá i gceist agam. Nuair atá an t-am thart (ó Lá Nollag go Lá Caille), ní féidir leat dul ar ais. Mura bhféadfá dul ar ais ó Phortland go Seattle, ní bheadh aon rogha agat ach dul ar aghaidh, timpeall an domhain, go Seattle ar turas fada.

Nach breá an rud é go bhfuil an domhan cruinn, agus go ndéanann sé cuairt atá (beagnach) cruinn ar an ngrian, le gur féidir an dá "turas" seo a chur i gcomparáid go cruinn néata. Is géar an intleacht atá agat. Maith thú! :-)

Goile mar sin ná bac le Portland, Tar go hEirinn!! ;)

An ceart "trí uaire" nó "trí huaire" a rá?

A people without a language of its own is only half a nation.A nation should guard its language more than its territories, 'tis a surer barrier and a more important frontier than mountain or river
