If not, who are the longest running users?

I first visited in 2003 or 2004, but didn't register until 2007. Still struggling with my Irish and keeping up the momentum.

Well the earliest post in the archive seems to be July of 1999. I saw Dennis King's name there, so maybe he can chime in with some more information.

I've been hanging out here since 1996, I think.

A search for my fist post here (I remember it well) reveals I've been polluting this forum with my inane drivel for just over 10 years!

Was there a board before the board?

How fitting that the first posting was by someone who's been so helpful to so many of us with her efforts in sharing the Irish Language - Rath!

The board debuted in July 1999, Aonghus. This from our July 3, 1999 newsletter:

We are especially happy to inform you that we have added a MESSAGE BOARD (Forums) area to the Daltaí website. For now, the discussion areas have been divided into two main parts:

[1] General Discussion (Irish and English), and

[2] Comhrá Oscailte as Gaeilge (Irish Only)

We hope that this area will be beneficial to struggling students
and fluent speakers alike. As an added benefit, first-time visitors
will be able to post their questions and requests for assistance.
Daltaí na Gaeilge receives several such e-mail enquiries every day -
without fail. Now these visitors will be encouraged to post their
questions in the MESSAGE BOARD (Forums) area.

Daltaí na Gaeilge

You may have picked it up on Gaeilge-B. As for a second board or a "board before the board", you may be thinking of a 2004(?) board upgrade (and spiffy GUI revision) that resulted in everyone's post count being reset (making your actual count well over 11,000).
