I was wondering if anyone could help me with a translation:

'it's a ride, not a race'

Any help would be much appreciated.
thanks!

Tricky, because it won't convey the ssame sense of "relax and enjoy it"

Suggestion:
Ní rás atá ann, ach marcaíocht

But I don't really like that because "ride" covers too much meaning in English, and marcaíocht doesn't convey the "ride for enjoyment" sense.

"sodar" jaunt/jog would be an alternative
sodar [ainmfhocal firinscneach den chéad díochlaonadh]
rith beag ar do shuaimhneas; (le hainmhí) rith gan dul sna cosa in airde.

I knew it wouldn't be easy!
If it helps - this was something my father said and it started with a very long bike ride and he said that to someone as advice, like 'slow down or you'll never make it to the end'.
The 'it's a ride, not a race' quote became something he was known for and applied to his life when he was sick with cancer.

Hope this helps with the meaning.
thanks again

How about translating it as "It's a journey, not a race"?

That would be more general but still conveys the sense.

Ní rás atá ann, ach turas.
