In the sentence "Rugadh sa bhliain 1960 i gContae Chill Mhantáin é", is it possible to write "Rugadh é sa bhliain 1960 i gContae Chill Mhantáin" or is that ungrammatical? |

It's not ungrammatical. The default rule is that pronominal objects like é and liom come at the end of a clause rather than immediately after a verb, but there's a countervailing tendency to avoid too great a separation. I imagine individual speakers will differ on whether or not they would personally allow "sa bhliain 1960 i gContae Chill Mhantáin" to intervene between the verb and its object, but I would think they would all accept either version. (If you're interested in more details, Ó Siadhail covers the topic reasonably well in Chapter 9 of his book Modern Irish.) |

I'd say that Munster speakers would put é mostly after the verb and Ulster people at the very end of the sentence. For Connachta speakers I dunno. Learn Irish pronunciation here: http://loig.cheveau.ifrance.com/irish/irishsounds/irishsounds.html & http://fsii.gaeilge.org/
