Cén sórt clár é? >> Cén sórt cláir é? (Note the change in clár to genitive case) Clár greannmhar? >> Clár grinn? (Former not incorrect but latter might be more idiomatic) Cén t-am atá sé ar siul gach trathnóna? >> Cén t-am a bhíonn sé ar siúl gach tráthnóna? (verb in habitual tense, síntí fada were missing from siúl and tráthnóna) "Open page 147 of your book" = (singular) Oscail do leabhar ag leathanach 147 (céad is daichead a seacht) (OR plural) Osclaígí bhur gcuid leabhar ag leathanach 147 Again, you may wish to wait for better help. |

Trigger, I think that might mean "open 147 pages of your book". ;-) |

GRMA, a Aonghuis. Céard faoin mír "a" roimh an uimhir mar a dúirt Hugo? Fuair mé sampla leis agus sampla eile gan é. Cé acu leagan is fearr? quote:One last question. Is this correct | Ceist: Cad é an clár teilifís is fearr leat? | Freagar: Is é an clár teilifís is fearr liom ná Coronation Street. |
>>Ceist: Cad é an clár teilifíse is fearr leat? >>Freagra: Is é an clár teilifíse is fearr liom ná Coronation Street. (note Freagar >> Freagra and an "e" on teilifís for the genitive, although you do see "clár teilifís" around) |

Go raibh maith agat. Tuigim anois! Just one last sentence I would like to check. I won't annoy you anymore.. Go raibh maith agat! Tá an bileog bunaithe ar téamaí teilifís agus caithfidh na páistí na habairtí a chríochnú. |

And the "ná" in the answer is a Munster thing. In Ulster for example we'd say : "Is é 'n clár teilifíse is f(h)earr liom Coronation Street". or: "Is é Coronation Street an clár teilifíse is f(h)earr liom" No need of "ná" if you don't speak Munster Irish. "ná" is used in Connacht too, especially if the subject has a long modifier. |

>>Tá an bhileog bunaithe ar théamaí teilifíse (sílim(?)? (bileog (and most -óg nouns) is feminine; "ar" causes lenition, and teilifís needs to be in the genitive) (Message edited by breandán on January 05, 2009) |
