I wanted to get this quote translated into the Irish language:

"May you live as long as you want, and never want as long as you live"

Can anyone help me out with this?

"want" is not a verb in Irish. you can have wants...although, "have" is not a verb in irish, either...so there can "be wants at you"

You could probably translate it, but it will likely wind up very cumbersome and completely lose the cute turn of phrase that it is in english. clever stuff like that usually only works in the language in which it's originally coined.

Just because it's done differently in Irish doesn't mean that it isn't done.

quote:

"May you live as long as you want, and never want as long as you live"

Maybe something like:
Go maire tú chomh fada agus a theastaíonn uait, agus nár theastaí rud ar bith uait chomh fada agus a mhaireann tú.

Céad bliain go maire tú agus ná raibh call ar bith ort an dá lá a mhairfeas tú!

Cé go bhfuil an pune caite insa méid seo thuas...

Pé scéal é, cén fáth a bheith ag iarraidh craiceann nua a bhualadh ar an tseantsaíocht? Tá an chosúlacht ann gur féidir rud níos gonta a fháil sa nGaeilge í féin gan aistriúchán ar bith a dhéanamh.
