It's been ages since I've used any Irish, but I was hoping someone ould tell me the proper way to say "My day is now" or something along those lines... Tá mo lá anois. or Taim lá anois. Or am I completely wrong on both versions? Go raibh maith agat. |

The first translation looks right, but it looks like a word-for-word translation from English, and there may be a better way to say it. The second one means "I am a day now" (with a grammar mistake and a long stroke missing)... Learn Irish pronunciation here: www.phouka.com/gaelic/sounds/sounds.htm & http://fsii.gaeilge.org/

Funny, normally you should write mo lása (no hyphen) but it may be understood as "my lace" :-) Or simply "inniu mo lá"... Learn Irish pronunciation here: www.phouka.com/gaelic/sounds/sounds.htm & http://fsii.gaeilge.org/

Sin an fath gur chuir mé fleiscín isteach. Níl fhios agam cad deir na bráithre sa chás seo. Is maith liom "Inniu mo lá", tá sin níos gonta fós. |

Deireann na Bráithre gur féidir fleiscín a dh’úsáid le athbhrí a sheachnadh, is é sin le ráidht, go dtig leat "do lá-sa" a scríobh, go díreach. :-) Learn Irish pronunciation here: www.phouka.com/gaelic/sounds/sounds.htm & http://fsii.gaeilge.org/

Is liomsa an lá inniu, b’fhéidir 'Rath Dé agus bail Phádraig ar a bhfeicfidh mé ó éireoidh mé ar maidin go gcodlóidh mé san oíche'

Another nice way of saying the same thing: 'Is é mo lá fómhair é' (Today is the day I reap my reward, my lucky day). Gheobhaidh tú in FGB é faoin cheannfhocal 'fómhar'. |
