How do you say "If the children are able"
Ma ata na páistí ábalta.

An bhfuil sé ceart go leor?

Braitheann sé.

na paistí ábalta

I'd translate that back as "If the children are capable"

"Más féidir leis na paistí" might be closer to what you want.

Braitheann sé go deimhin. An bhfuil ponc (.) i ndiaidh "able" nó an bhfuil abairt eile ar a lorg? Más deireadh na habairte é an focal "able", céard a chiallaíonn sé? Able bodied? Not disabled?

Pé scéal é, seo réiteach eile:

Má tá na páistí in ann ag X. = If the children are up to X, able to do X, equal to X, a match for X.

Níl siad in ann agam. = They are no match for me.

"An seanchas gearr,
an seanchas is fearr."

Go deimhin.

There are many ways of translating able, depending on the shade of meaning required.

I gcúrsaí eastáit réadaigh cloistear an nath seo go minic: Location, location, location! .i. na trí ní is tábhachtaí nuair a cheannaítear teach. An leathbhreac de seo i gcúrsaí aistriúcháin ná "Comhthéacs, comhthéacs, comhthéacs!"

"An seanchas gearr,
an seanchas is fearr."
