Hi all. I need to see about a translation for my sister. It's the phrase "You never forget your first time." Any help at all would be appreciated.

Ní dhéantar dearmad ar an gcéad uair. (Literally "one does not forget the first time.")

Why not just give him/her what they asked for??

Ní dhéanann tú dearmad ar do chéad uair.
You never forget your first time.

or

Ní dhéantar dearmad ar do chéad uair.
Your first time is never forgotten.

Because using the saorbhriathar gives it a more universal, aphoristic tone. Feictear dom go bhfuil sé sin níos Gaelaí -- nó níos traidisiúnta ar aon nós. Ach caithimse a lán ama leis an tSean-Ghaeilge.

I think that mixing modes here could be misleading or even unintentionally humorous (as if "you" had an audience). It could be easily interpreted as:

"They never forget your first time."
