Tá mé ag obair le briathar "faigh". I do not know how to pronounce the form "Faigheadh". I need to know if the "dh" on the end is pronounced or not.

Pronounced in West and South mostly as 'ach' and as 'ú' in North, so,

Faighach (W & S)

Faighiú (N).

Probably exceptions to this in places (Cois Fhairrige might bé ú for some verbs más buan mo chuimhne), but it is a general rule

PS, when you have sé, sí, sibh after the ach becomes a slender t, so faighadh sí is like 'faighait sí' (like maybe 'fwhyche) and length of pronoun reduced AFIK

What do you mean with "faigheadh". It's not so common on its own (except maybe in the imperative: faigheadh sé = let him find).

As Bearn said, faigheadh is mainly pronounced fie-ukh in Connemara and Munster, and fah-yoo in Ulster.

However, when followed by sé, sí, sinn, sibh, siad, sin, seo, siúd, the -dh is pronounced as a slender t in Connemara and Ulster:

fie-utchah (faigheadh sé) in Ulster or fie-utchay in Connemara


In the conditional, faigheadh may be pronounced differently according to the dialect. For example:

go bhfaigheadh sé > pronounced "guh weetchah" (that's why it would be spelt "go bhfuigheadh sé" in Ulster before the Caighdeán and people like me could still spell it that way).
