I want this phrase translated into Irish:

May you live as long as you want,
and never want as long as you live.

Can someone help? Please!

My (clumsy) attempt off my head

go maire tu chomh fada a ba mhaith leat
agus dith ort riamh chomh fada a mhaireanns t(h)u

It won't work - the word for want will be different in Irish for the two meanings of want. There will be differences in life and length also.

Go maire tú chomh fada agus is mian leat,
agus ná raibh díth ort le do bheo.

Aonghus: Thank you. I've been away from Gaeilge for some years and I'm trying to relearn it. Your translation has the feel of Gaeilge as I remember it. One of the fun things about Gaeilge is how the expressions are so different from English, while still being logical.

I know the translation was wrong -I felt it; I just didn't know enough to do it right!
