Hi everyone.

I was wondering, when you are saying that you are going to do something in the future like;

CeannÓIDH mé = I will buy
LeagFAIDH mé = I will kick

As they are both future tenses, how do I know when to use the ''FAIDH'' or the ''óidh''

I don't know which one to use when I am using a future tense, because both of them are used for it. When do I use the óidh and what type of words do I use for ''FAIDH''

It depends on the verb:

http://www.csis.ul.ie/focloir/

If you type in a verb (any form of) it will give you all forms.

It depends on the conjugation. A great resource to help with this and other problems with verbs is:

Ó Murchu, Deagan & Ó Murchu, Pádraig, Briathra na Gaeilge (BÁC: Folens Teo, 2000) 47 pp.

Is ait an mac an saol.

You use the -eoidh/óidh ending with the following verbs:

- those with more than 1 syllable and that end with -(a)igh

- those with more than 1 syllable and that end with -(a)il (but not -áil), -(a)in, -(a)ir, -(a)is. You syncopate most of these ones, ex: cosain > cosnóidh

- some other verbs that have more than one syllable, like aithris, foghlaim, fulaing, tarraing, tuirling, freastail, taisteal, plus lorg (that has 2 syllables in pronunciation).

There are some exceptions, especially in some dialects.
