Hello, I need a help to construe sentences in Irish with these expressions, since my attempts turned out to be feeble:
leis an lá = by daybreak leis an mí = at the start of the month cuir le = lay upon
What tenses usually combine with "le" when expressing time? Is there a restriction on those - for instance it can be used with progressives (ag+verbal noun)or non-progressives...?
'leis an mí' does not mean 'at the start of the month.' I'm not sure what it means as I've never heard or seen it anywhere. 'Ag tús na míosa' means 'at the start of the month.' Rachaidh mé go Meiriceá ag tús na míosa. I understand 'cuir le' as 'add to.' Cuir le mo chuid airgid an méid sin. Maybe 'cuir le' has another meaning that I don't know.
oh, ok. I found 'leis an mí' on some online Irish grammar. weird.
Bhí sí ag an doras leis an lá. -> would you translate this as "She was at the door by daybreak" (?)
I want to say "She kept coming here/ was coming here ever since she was sick."
Bhí sí ag tar seo ó shin bhí sí tinn. - something like this? I know I should probably use the progressive here, but am not quite sure if this is the happiest of solutions!
