An cuimhin libh an obair go léir a rinne muid anseo ar an togra sin? I'm happy to say it hasn't come to nought. The corpus of "names for types of people" was installed in a database at Sabhal Mór Ostaig a few months ago. Since then, Liz has been working through it patiently correcting errors and inconsistencies. In addition, she has been carefully incorporating the large body of data found in two articles in Irish published in the journal Béaloideas. We estimate that the database, which we are tentatively calling Is Iomaí Duine ag Dia, will be available to the public by early September.

Here's a brief sample, which I got when I searched with the word "skinny":

loimirceach (m) thin, skinny, creature

loimíneach (m) thin, skinny, creature

sceanartach (m) sharp-feature person; skinny, scraggy, person

scáineachán (m) skinny, emaciated, person

Many thanks to all of you who took part! Fáinne óir oraibh go léir!

an seanchas is fearr."

I think its really exciting how all of you were able to put that together, everyone of you doing a part. It is grand that it will be available for everyone to look at in Sept. Well done to you all. I enjoyed reading the words and definitions that were listed here during the project.
