cad a cheapeann sibh faoi you tube már áis foghlamtha den teanga seo? Ar bhain tú tríall as you tube go fóill? Nach mbeadh sé áisiúil you tube a úsáid chun giotaí Gaeilge a cur i láthair? what's your opinion of you tube as an Irish language learning tool? Have you ever used it? Wouldn't it be interesting to use you tube to string together conversational bits of Irish to help learners worldwide to hear bits that they can't find locally? www.youtube.com |

My opinion? It's entertainment, and unless it is structured, it is useless as a learning tools, or at best hit-and-miss |

I'm sure that people could learn words or phrases from things they saw on Utube but unless someone puts specific lessons up, that is all it will likely be as BRN partially said. Beir bua agus beannacht |

Personally I think it's a fantstic idea, although it would be far better to see a whole website devoted to "Irish 101" isntruction, complete with text, audio-video, interactive games, and the like. I see no reason, in the interim, that YouTube couldn't be used to just give a first-level course. Just videotape a professor at the blackboard and post it up! |

Mar a tharlaíonn sé, rinne mé cuardach do "Gaeilge" i Youtube aréir agus tháinig mé ar mo chairde ó mo chúrsa! Déarfainn féin gur bhreá an smaoineamh é, dá mba rud é go raibh ceamara agam bheadh sé déanta agam cheana féin! A people without a language of its own is only half a nation.A nation should guard its language more than its territories, 'tis a surer barrier and a more important frontier than mountain or river

It would be grand to have a whole website, but the good thing about Utube is that Irish lessons would attract the attention of the masses so to speak, not just people who are specifically looking. Then people who have perhaps always casually wanted to learn but aren't devoted enough for a class could have a chance to learn a bit. Beir bua agus beannacht |
