First of all, hello everyone..!

I'm a new poster here and am busy stuck at work in England, so you'll have to forgive me if I don't post that much.. :O(

I have a quick question, mainly for a friend really, that I couldn't answer, so any help you can give would be very much appreciated! :O)

The question was "how do you say the term 'farmer's wife' in Irish Gaelic..?"

Any help you can give would be much appreciated and keep up the good work!

Stephen

Nach gránna an t-ainm atá ort, a Kalar-azar!

kâla âzar (Hindi) = black fever = leishmaniasis

an seanchas is fearr."

That's right! - not many people understand my name and I have to explain it most of the time.

Please don't lose me with Gaelic too much though - I'm just a beginner at present :O(

Must find a way to learn - it's such a difficult language at times, but it's the language of my family so...

Yes indeed. It was something stupid I liked the sound of so kind of adopted and have been using for years now - ever since I was in a band when younger.

I am slightly odd. :O)

Cosúil le syphilliselephantiasis? Níl sé greannmhar ar chor ar bith.

níl = is not
greannmhar = amusing

Dennis agus Kalar_Azar, a chairde,

D'fhreastáil mise ar cheolchoirm a thug banna ceoil dar ainm "Kuru" (!!) thart feadh deich mbliana ó shin i gclub beag sa cheantar Nua-Eabhrac. Bhí siad ar fheabhas, ar aon nós.

An bhfuil aon ceangal idir an focal "kalar" agus galar??

Slán beo,
Paul

Níl. Is focal Hindi é a chiallaíonn "dubh". Dá mbeadh orm an fuaimniú a chur in iúl i nGaeilge, scríobhfainn "cálá" is dócha.

"An seanchas gearr,
an seanchas is fearr."
