FYI, voting is open for the Irish Blog Awards. For those of you who read Irish language blogs, be sure to vote in the "Best Use of the Irish Language in a Blog" category here:

http://www.awards.ie/vote/

Nominees are listed in a drop-down, but there's a full list in a link on that page.

Who is in there that we know? Is Aonghus listed, I know his is on one of the websites listed in the dropbox but does that mean I'd be voting for his blog or all the blogs on that site? GRMA

Besides our own Aonghus, you'll see Conn Ó Muineacháin (an tImeall), Mark Bodah (Faoi dhein an dorais) and Séamas Ó Neachtain (an Caomhach). Perhaps a few others I'm misremembering, or who don't frequent this board.

So if I vote for Chetwyn Downes (or however you spell it) does that mean that I voted for Aonghus?

Unless he's managing two blogs, I think it's "Smaointe Fánacha Aonghusa" (http://aonghus.blogspot.com/)

I picked Aonghus, of course. I hope he wins and if he doesn't then I hope someone else that people here know wins.

I like Chetwynde Downs, but I'm not the author, nor do I know him/her (But Míshásta does occasionally drop in here).

Tá Cumann Carad na Gaeilge ann freisin.

Mura bhfuil an ceann is fearr leat ann, níor mhol tú é nuair a bhí an deis ann!

If your favorite isn't there, you didn't recommend it when there as a chance to do that!

P.S. - Don't forget, there are Irish language blogs in most of the categories. It's not just about the best blog in Irish.

GRMA a Aonghuis. I saw your definition above in the dictionary, so I thought it would work.

Is mairg go bhfuil aireachtáil eischéadfach agam (orm?)

It's a pity that I don't have ESP.

Please note: It was only meant as a joke (that's why I used the smiley) and for me to practice my Irish.

Tá an ceart ag Aonghus, bhí "nach" de dhíth ort seachas "go."

Is mairg go bhfuil aireachtáil eischéadfach agam.
It's a pity that I do have ESP.

Tá fáilte roimh chuile cheartú!

Yeah, ain't it a pity that I'm stuck with this darn ESP? Is trua mhór é sin! .

Go raibh céad míle maith agaibh a Aonghuis agus a Abigail. A Abigail, thanks for re-iterating Aonghus' post above, since I obviously didn't catch his correction with nach.

Why is Aonghus's blog at the bottom of the list :( Oh well, at least I voted for it :)

I did notice that there were blogs with Irish language titles in nearly every category but since I don't know what they were about I only voted about best Irish language blog. Now technically I don't know what Aonghus's blog is about but that is irrelevent because I would have voted for him anyway.

Somhairle from Blag Shomhairle pops into Daltaí ó am go h-am..

A people without a language of its own is only half a nation.A nation should guard its language more than its territories, 'tis a surer barrier and a more important frontier than mountain or river
