A Aonghuis, a while back you had posted a government/educational sponsered website that answered questions about the Irish language. I tried searching the archives for the link but couldn't find it. Could you please tell me the name of the site?

Go raibh céad/míle maith agat a Aonghuis. I sent them a question and will post their reply when received.

A chairde: My use of "céad/míle" is not to be construed as in the realm of "number-division theory." That is, I am not thanking Aonghus 100/1000 = 1/10 of a thanks, but merely using the "/" symbol to represent alternate uses for the word "thousand."

Fáilte roimh cheartúcháin, go raibh céad maith agaibh.

Here's the answer I got from the Freagra website listed above:
quote:

Go raibh maith agat = thanks/ Thank you. To express 'many thanks', you could say
'go raibh céad maith agat', 'go raibh míle maith agat' or even 'go raibh céad
míle maith agat' (a hundred thousand thanks). In these instances 'céad' =
'hundred' and 'míle' = 'thousand'. I'm not sure why 'céad' is there instead of
'míle' in De Bhaldraithe.

Fáilte roimh cheartúcháin, go raibh céad maith agaibh.
