A chara,

There are plenty of people here who do, and others of us, including mo fein are trying to learn. That is the purpose of this sight. People who want to learn can ask questions of the more clever ones and get answers and information. We also talk about issues surrounding the language etc. People for the most part are very helpful and agreeable.

I'm sorry, my post was much vaguer than I'd realized! I know there are many fabulous people here on Daltai with beautiful Irish (or a desire to have beautiful Irish). I've learned a great deal from reading posts here.

Thank you for such a kind welcome, anyway.

What I meant to ask was, is there anyone in Santa Barbara, California who speaks Irish? :) I know there are Irish speakers/students in the Southern California area, but I'd love to be able to meet up with nearby people regularly to speak.

Tá brón orm faoin meascán! (Sorry for the confusion!)

I guess I should have reasoned that you meant something more specific :)

Caitriona who writes here lives in Southern California but I probably can't tell you whare without her permission, she doesn't live in your city though. That is all I know.

hmm...you might want to contact this woman, as she's at UCSB and might speak the language or know where classes might be held:

(Though I don't know her & only got this through a bit of googling...)

Thanks, Nicole! I will definitely get in to contact with her. I clearly haven't been googling diligently enough. :)

Hi Rua and all here,
Sorry I've been away. I'm working really hard on keeping myself in a Spanish speaking environment. Lots of papers to write etc. I'll be back in December. Fáilte ar ais a Ríona. I'm thrilled you got to go. Sorry about Ragús. Hope your Dad liked it in Ireland too. He sounds like a clever, caring, and observant person.

Rua,
I've two kids in U.C.S.B.
Dara is doing Law there and officially he's David Weafer. He has good Irish (stronger than Sinead's) though it may be a little rusty. It wouldn't take it long to get it back. If you don't mind a trip down our direction buail isteach on a Sunday at 2:00pm (beg.) or 3:00 (intermed.). I'm at

31950 Doverwood Ct. Westlake Village CA 91361
818 991 1932

P.S. I've a son called Ruadhán but he's not red headed.

Caitríona

Hello...I'd like to get a new tattoo with the gaelic words for Justice Truth Sacrifice to define the last 20 years spent as an NYPD Officer/Detective
