I was recently asked to produce the newsletter for my local chapter of the IAUC here in northern NJ. I'd like to conclude each edition with a short editorial, which I'd like to entitle with the Irish version of "parting thought" or "parting shot". Can someone help me with that translation? Thank you very much. My goal is to incorporate as much Irish as possible into the newsletter, so I may be back here soon!

An equivalent Irish term would be:

'Focal scoir'

literally 'departing word'

Wait for more.

I'd go something more like 'Sá ar imeacht'. Literally, a "jab on leaving" for the metaphore.

"Sáiteán deiridh" -- a last jab? "Sáiteán" is a pointed remark calculated to hurt or criticise or ridicule.

I'd go with Antóin's "Focal scoir" - the others are too obviously translations.

"Buille scoir" would be the final blow.

"Sáiteán scoir" would work too.

Thank you all very much. I included the following in the September edition of the newsletter:

"I am grateful for the assistance of the members of Daltaí na Gaeilge, an organization dedicated to promoting and teaching the Irish language. Please visit Daltaí online at www.daltai.com."
