(ó 500 Beannacht Mhic Gearailt)

Do Ríona agus an Ainnir Ioruach:

Céill' gan srann, gan chaille, gan beann agat!

Gur de thaoisigh agus dhíolmhanaigh do chéile!

Nuachar iol-mhaoineach chugat

Translations later (maybe!).

A Aonghuis,

For Riona and the ... woman (I assume you mean Norwegiandame)
You have reason without snoring, without missing, without dependence.

.........

I know that is truely shameful but I thought it would be better to try and look foolish than to not try at all. I assume that these are all proverbesque expressions so they are probably rather idiomatic and might not make sense to me without explanation.

Cúpla nod eile:

maoin [ainmfhocal baininscneach den dara díochlaonadh]
sealúchas, saibhreas.
taoiseach [ainmfhocal firinscneach den chéad díochlaonadh]
ceannaire, rialtóir; príomh-aire (rialtais).
taoisigh [ainmneach iolra]

iol -> il- [réimír]
iomadúil, eagsúil; difriúil

These are all wishes (Modh foshuiteach)

foshuiteach [ainmfhocal firinscneach den chéad díochlaonadh]
(sa ghramadach) modh den bhriathar a úsáidtear chun guí, dóchas nó éiginnteacht a léiriú (fan go dtaga sé; nárab é duit).

There is an implied "go raibh" in front of the first and third.

Ó ceart go leor:

1) May your spouse be free of snores, losses and dependencies
2) May your spouse be descended from cheifs and nobles
3) May you get a spouse of different kinds of wealth

Surprisingly I wasn't too far off with my first one. GRMA a Aonghuis.
