Tá BEO ar ais aríst agus léigh mé an t-alt seo ann: “Spáinnis,Easpáinnigh agus teangacha oifigiúla” le Brian Ó Broin…as cathair na Gaillimhe ó dhúchas é…agus tá Clár Plé BEO faoi chiúnas go fóill…mar sin, idir an dá linn, níl an dara rogha agam ach ag plé mo cháis ar an gClár Plé seo… Why is it that an Irish-speaking Irish liberal like Brian Ó Broin wants to butt into the discussion about English being the official language of America!?? ‘Tis none of his business!! Seems to me that Ó Broin should be going tête à tête avec the English-speaking Irish liberal, Kevin Myer, who is forever pissin’ an’ moanin’ that English instead of Irish should be the official language of Ireland…and that Irish is no more than a dead and useless language!! Ó Broin is the typical liberal hypocrite! While he’ll defend the right of Irish-speakers to choose Irish as the official language of Ireland, he’ll deny the Yanks the same right to choose English as the official language of America!! If all the Irish immigrants who fought and died in America’s Revolutionary/Civil Wars had had their Irish with them-Irish!- Not English- would be the “langue du jour” in America today!! All the Johnny-come-lately immigrants who balk at learning English-they don’t realize who lucky they are!! Suppose they had to learn Irish in order to become naturalized American citizens??!!? Fág an tír nó bí san fhaisean…an t-iomlán dearg acu!! (Message edited by admin on June 06, 2006) |

Making English the national language is a spiteful act to make life harder for immigrants who don't speak English. |

no it is not. English IS the defacto national language why not make it leagal? I for one do not want my kids to grow up speaking a non-native language to the majority ofus citizens think about it for a moment when espanol becomes the lingua franca how will your kids speak to their grand parents? la raza is the end of the USA and the real american way of life as we know it!! and the futureill bemoan the fact just as the Daltai do!! these people who will have you believe that la raza is benevolent are wrong they are out to create a new united states of mexico!! viva Engles!! los bocas espanol es mucho merde!! |

This thread has more to do with American politics than the Irish language. Consequently, it is being closed. Caomhín Tír gan teanga, tír gan anam.
