It's a strong word that suggests roles of submission and domination and a concept I disagree with.
Are you trying to get across the idea that you're there to provide a service? Is it a religious context, perhaps?

There is a bit of literary precedent in Irish for using "Mise le Meas" as a name (of sorts... a nickname, or sobriquet, or nom de plume; whatever you want to call them, they were all the rage in the early decades of the revival, and over-ripe for the "aoir" of Myles). No, it isn't intended in a religious context.

I am trying to convey two meanings, really.
I administer a forum and so I want to convey that I seriously am there to adminsiter to any problems as well as work on providing any improvements that the members may suggest.
However, it is also meant rather tongue in cheek as obviously I have the final say in everything.
The exagerrated modesty is intentional as a comic device.

It wasn't an attempt as it were to shorten "beir bua". What it was comes down to the fact that I noticed that I'd forgotten to put the "bua" right before I sent it. I would have gone back and fixed it but I figured that if it happened once noone would really mind or care. So I was lazy, it won't happen again. There was no attempt at abreviatory slang envolved.

Well on this thread I guess we're coming up with some suggestions for a translation until we find the one that works best for the person who's looking fot it.

But the forum...? That's a bigger question and a good one. I guess it's different things to different people. You've had a lot of good suggestions on other threads, Riona. Do you have some ideas as to what the forum should be? I haven't thought about it too much and probably won't tonight. 'Gotta finish up my work here. I think you may have the start of a good discussion here.
