A chairde, I'm looking for information on how to represent the simplified version of IPA fonts in general. For example, how would I represent the schwa and lower-case gamma when posting a message in Yahoo groups? Any help would be greatly appreciated. /@/ will do for the schwa /Y/ for gamma (e) vowels in brackets can do for glides. their position can tell you about on or off glides. The thing is to set up a convention, ad stick to it. I will make up a text in Gentium and simplified IPA tonight, based on how I use it. I might be useful |

A Robert, Go raibh maith agat. Larry Ackerman had also provided the idea of checking the html codes that represent the IPA symbols here on the daltaí, so I'll have to give that a try also once I figure it out. |

Try using "Lucida sans unicode" font - it is universally available and makes IPA writing a piece-of-cake |

Go raibh maith agat, a Róman. What I'm failing to understand is how I can type IPA symbols when posting a message directly in a Yahoo group. Would I load a font like Lucida or is there a sequence of keystrokes to represent an IPA symbol that can be seen by other members reading the posting? If anyone can demonstrate with an example that would be greatly appreciated. |

Try using HTML character codes: Type an ampersand: & Then a hash: # Then an 'x': x Then the hexadecimal code of the character Then a semi-colon. Here's an example of 2022, which is a bullet character: • • • • • • Fáilte Roimh Cheartúcháin Correct me for the love of God... I'm a perfectionist! : )

Thanks Fear_na_mbróg, I gave it a try on one of the Yahoo groups but still no luck. |
