I'm doing an essay on how cultural aspects of language get lost in translation, and I was looking to use Irish phrases to demonstrate this. So, I was wondering if someone could post me some idioms or phrases... |

How cultural aspects of language get lost in translation.. Could you be more precise - as in sort of maybe in one language it'd be considered mannerly to say "Chomh sciapthe le mún an ghiorra" But in english, using the word piss would be offensive to some. Dunno if that type of thing is what you're looking for?? A people without a language of its own is only half a nation.A nation should guard its language more than its territories, 'tis a surer barrier and a more important frontier than mountain or river
