While listening to RnaG, I often hear a word that sounds an awful lot like it would be spelled "condaí" or "cundaí", but I can find nothing even remotely close in the dictionary.

I'm pretty sure it's not "contae". Any ideas? It never seems to occur next to words that I know, so I can't guess its meaning.

Probably is "contae". I, for example, pronounce it /ku:nde:/ KOON-day. Blas an Iarthair.

This is not in answer to Dearg's question, but does anyone know what the name "Condaí" translates into English if it does at all? Examples of musicians with this name include Condaí Phroinnsis Ó Cuinneagáin agus Condaí O Domhnaill. Thanks.

Cuidigh is pronounced as /kud'i/ "cud-yee" in Donegal. I don't think it can be misinterpreted as "condaí".

"County" is condaidh in Donegal : "conn-die" /kondaj/.
