A chairde -- Does anyone know if Ó Siadhail's "Learning Irish" has been rereleased with audio CDs yet? I checked Yale University Press' website and found it entirely unhelpful. It seems from my searches that the last time they republished it (2000), the course still had cassette tapes. I can't seem to find any reference to a later reprint than 2000. A chara, a Chionaodh, I don't know about that book, but I know that (at least to me) the "Teach Yourslef Irish" book with CD's has been very helpful. If you haven't looked into it, its definately worth a try. Slán, Cáit. |

Scríobh Cáit: >>I don't know about that book, but I know >>that (at least to me) the "Teach Yourslef >>Irish" book with CD's has been very helpful. >>If you haven't looked into it, its >>definately worth a try. GRMA, a Cháit; I do have that course, both in the original cassette format and the newer CD format. It might have been a bit better if its author Ó Sé had stayed with the dialect he knows best (Munster), as this 1990s-era course is a bit of a dialectical stew. I think the original (circa 1960) TYI by Dillon & Ó Cróinín was a superior course. My reason for seeking a CD version of Ó Siadhail's "Learning Irish" was simply so that my cassette tapes won't wear out, and also that it'd be nice to have well-placed "tracks" so that one could skip ahead (or back) to the parts one would find most helpful.
