RESPECT CULTURE - PRIVATE SECTOR WARNED
Carmarthen town centre was plastered with hundreds of stickers as
part of an ongoing campaign of direct action.
In excess of 50 companies were targeted in yesterday's action
initiated
by members of Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg in their campaign for
businesses
to be bilingual. The group have already targeted several other towns
including Caernarfon, Cardiff, Aberystwyth and Bangor
The focus of the protest is current language legislation which has
not been extended to include the private sector
Chair of the New Welsh Language Act Campaign, Rhys Llwyd, said, "We
see private companies refusing to offer a Welsh service time after
time. They are willing enough to take our money, but not to respect
our culture."
The campaign is set to continue until elements of the private sector
in Wales meet their commitments to the language
Yours sincerely,
