I notice that on discussion boards for languages which use accents(fadas) that the instructions for how to use them are nearly always windows specific or include Mac as an afterthought. Since many people do not use windows(including myself) I am just posting a way to employ fadas for an alternative platform... This method works for the input system used by the second most common OS, Linux/Unix(though it should work for any platform using the X11 Windowing System).
------------------------------------------
To type a vowel with a fada one should use this key sequence: Right Alt+;+VOWEL

Thus, Holding the right alt key and the semicolon key produces a "dead key" which will not insert a character until key corresponding to a character accepting the right accent has been pressed(the right Alt and the semicolon keys should be released before pressing the key that receives the fada).

For example:

Right Alt+;+a = á
Right Alt+;+e = é
Right Alt+;+i = í
Right Alt+;+u = ú
Right Alt+;+Shift+o = Ó
------------------------------------------------
I think this should be added to the "Help with Fadas" text if possible. Also, it is noteworthy that the instructions for cutting and pasting under Windows will typically also work under the most popular Linux/Unix desktops.

I always assumed that's because it is simply not a problem on the Mac. Option-e followed by the character you want gives you the character with an acute accent/fada, and has since 1984.

Perhaps it is only Windows users who don't know how to get the best out of their system?
