I have been asked to do an Irish Blessing before the meal at a wedding reception. Since they asked for an Irish blessing I thought it would be nice to do it in Irish and then in English. I know a little Irish but my guesses at pronunciation for words I do not know is not good. So I have been told by native Irish speakers. Would someone help me by giving me the English phonetic pronunciation of the following: Beannaigh sinne, a Dhia. Beannaigh ár mbia agus ár ndeoch. ós tú a cheannaigh sinn go daor Agus a shaor sinn ó olc, Mar a thug tú an chuid seo dúinn Go dtuga tú dúinn ár gcuid den ghlóir shíoraí. I've done my own best guess at the pronunciation but would like to compare with someone who really knows. FYI I learned the little bit of Irish I know from a man from County Tyrone but a lady in County Kerry could understand me when I was talking about the weather. Thanks so much for any help you can give. |
