Athair which is pronounced, roughly, "Ah - ar" in the Cois Fhairrage dialect. I think that the Standard Irish would be "Ah-hir". Get some native, or at least, more scholarly input before you commit this to anything permanent.

James

It's to my memory that the first 'A' is pronounced like the 'a' in the English word "hat". (A-er) i gCois Fhairrge. But I would go with James' second of (A-hir ; same first vowel). It's a much more common pronunciation.

Le meas,
Maidhc.

A Mhaidhc,

You may very well be correct on the pronunciation. I'll check my tapes to be certain. That is one of the really difficult aspects of self-teaching. I have no way of checking my pronunciation against a living, breathing gaeilgoir. I think your memory is better than mine on this one!

Le meas,

James
