I was wondering if anyone could translate a phrase for me. It is for a sympathy note for a friend of mine that is Irish. The phrase is "God never closes a door without opening a window." Thanks in advance, it is much appreciated.

Ní dhruideann Dia doras gan fuinneog a oscailt

I've an idea there is a similar, idiomatic phrase; but I can't remember it now.

In the archives listed under "God":
Níos dhún Dia doras riamh nár oscail Sé ceann eile. (God never closes a door without opening another.)

Míle maith agat a Mhaidhc, sin an ceann a bhí i gceist agam, ach níor thaining isteach im intinn ach "Is gaire cabhair Dé ná an doras"

Ceartaithe:

Níor dhún Dia doras riamh nár oscail Sé ceann eile

R seachas S i Níor

Ceartaigh = "correct" verb

Ceartú = "correcting / correction" noun. This refers to the process, NOT the object

Ceartaithe = Genetive of "ceartú"

-

Ceartúchán = "correction"
