I was wondering if there were any colleges (besides Harvard, Notre Dame, and Fordham) any of you knew of that have classes on Irish studies. I will be applying to colleges in about a year and a half and it is fairly important to me that they have one. Thanks in advance to any responses!

Slán,
Ciarraí

A Chiarraí,

Probably the simplest thing to do is to go to Google (http://www.google.com) and enter "Irish Studies" and college. Looked to me like there were a fair number of matches.

Best of luck to you!

Slán,

Bradford

If you wanna learn Gaeilge, then the best resource by a mile is the Gaeltacht.
I hear that alot of people are fluent within a month there.

A Chriostaí, A Chara,

For my money Notre Dame looks to have one of the best Irish Studies programs in the States.

Dia Duit, a Chiarraí,
I'm currently studying Irish at NYU. Our program, though only technically offering a minor, is both extensive and excellent. Our faculty is unbelievable (take classes with Pádraig Ó Cearúill and Mick Moloney!) and Irish classes are by hands down my favorite courses. In addition to two years of language courses, we have a great summer immersion program. Worth looking into. Check out www.nyu/edu/pages/irelandhouse to visit the center of our program, Glucksman Ireland House.
Bhí linn agus go n'éirí an d-ádh leat,
Melissa
