Dear Linda,

I think that the plethora of messages on this site may give ye some idea...*grin*......Irish is spoken as a first language by a decent number of people in Ireland, and by an even larger number living overseas. So, in no way, shape, or form, could it be construed to be a dead language. You should take it up and learn it, it is a beautiful tongue.
