Irish literature hasn't always been just an Ireland-based thing. Manuscripts are today scattered from Krakow to Cathair Naomh Proinsias/San Francisco. Books such de Híde's 'Mo thuras go hAmerice' 1937, and the recent 'Voices Silenced/Guthanna in Éag', Cois Life, Dublin, [102pp] 2001, come to mind.

Others in America and elsewhere should consider the various literary possibilities open to them in this light. Maybe we are looking at the shape of things to come.
