D'ainneoin na ndeacrachtaí uile (Hairicín Sandy!) bhí muid i nJamison, PA ar ár nDeireadh Seachtaine Tomoideachas. Cé go raibh a lán againn thar a bheith gnóthach ag glanadh suas thar éis na stoirme, agus cuid againn gan aibhléis, tháinig muid ar aon chuma chun snasa a chur ar ár gcuid Gaeilge.

Despite Hurricane Sandy Daltaí was back in Jamison PA for our annual Immersion Weekend. While many of us had to deal with cleaning up after the Hurricane and still no power, we still came out to polish our Gaeilge skills.

Bhí Deirdre lán sásta an cúrsa frásaí a thabhairt ar son na tosaitheoirí uilig. Is buntáiste i gcónaí é bheith in ann “Dia dhuit”, “Go raibh maith agat” agus “Tá cabhair uaim!” a rá.

Deirdre was happy to help all the beginners by giving a crash phrase course. It’s always a big plus to be able to say hello, thanks and HELP!

Bhí “Darth Vader” ann fiú, chun a chuid Gaeilge a chleachtadh. Conas a deirfeá “A Lúcais, is mise d’athair!”?

Even Darth Vader came out to practice his Gaeilge. How do you say “Luke, I am your father!”?

Nach Liam Ó Cuinneagáin é sin? Téann an fear sin chuile áit. Bíonn Liam ina chara dílis do Dhaltaí le blianta fada anuas. An raibh tú ag Oideas Gael fós? Seo an dá rud is tábhachtaí le déanamh agat agus tusa ag foghlaim na Gaeilge – Téigh go deireadh seachtaine Dhaltaí na Gaeilge agus freastail ar chúrsa seachtaine ag Oideas Gael.

Isn’t that Liam Ó Cuinneagáin? That man gets everywhere. Liam has been a great friend of Daltaí over the years. Have you been to Oideas Gael yet? Two things you have to do when studying Gaeilge, go to a Daltaí na Gaeilge weekend and take a week course in Oideas Gael.

Thug Siobhán Gallivan tuairisc dhúinn ar a cuairt shamhraidh in Éirinn. Bronnadh an Scoláireacht Múinteora uirthi agus seachtain stáideir ag Oideas Gael. An cuimhin leat cé chomh fial atá Liam le Daltaí? Bhuel, go raibh míle maith agat, a Liam.

Siobhán Gallivan shared her recent visit to Ireland with us. Siobhán was awarded the Teacher’s Scholarship with a week of studying at Oideas Gael. Remember what a great friend and supporter Liam is of Daltaí? Well, thanks Liam.

Agus ní fíor Deireadh Seachtaine í gan giota filíochta ó Lúcas. Bhainfeadh Cathail Ó Sharkey aoibhneas as a leagan.

What would a Weekend be without some poetry from Lúcas? Cathail Ó Sharkey would be delighted with his rendition.

I rith na Deireadh Seachtaine tagann na daoine líofa le chéile ag an seisiún “duine ar dhuine”. Is cuid tábhachtach den Deireadh Seachtaine é, os rud é go mbíonn deis ag na tosaitheoirí agus na mic léinn ag an meán leibhéal ceisteanna casta a chur. Bíonn Rath sásta i gcónaí cuidiú a thabhairt.

During the Weekend the fluent speakers all get together for the one-on-one sessions. It’s a very important part of the Weekend because it gives the beginners and intermediates a chance to ask those questions that they sometimes find hard to put together in class. Rath is always happy to help.

Mar is gnách, bíonn Gaeilgeoir i láthair chun léacht iontach a thabhairt dhúinn. Agus ní eisceacht an Deireadh Seachtaine seo. Buíochas le Máire Nic an Bhaird.

As usual there is always a Gaeilgeoir on hand to give us a great lecture. This weekend was no exception. Thanks to Máire Nic an Bhaird.

A Liam, caithfidh tú cinneadh a dhéanamh cén rang is fearr leat. Tá fhios agam gur breá linn uilig Rang Lúcais.

Liam, make your mind up as to what class you want. I know, we all want to be in Lucas’ class.

“Eurovision Song Contest 2013” tá muid ar an mbealach!

Chuir Tomás Ó Cathail gliondar ar ár gcroí agus seisean ag seinm na fliúite.

Tom Cahill delighted us with his flute skills.

Ná déan aríst é, a Liam! Uair amháin eile agus cuirfidh mé fios ar Eibhlín Zurell.

Not again Liam! One more move and I’m going to report you to Eileen Zurell.

Tanáistí an chomórtas. An-jab.

Our Costume Céilí runners up. Great job.

Agus caithfidh muid an té seo a lú. An bhfuil clú ag éinne cé atá ann?

This guy has to get an honorary mention. Any idea who it is?

Agus ba mian le mo chara seo bheith páirteach, ach dhiúltaigh Liam é. Gan chulaith, gan chead isteach!

This guy wanted to be in the action but Liam said no. No costume, no entry!

Tá muid buíoch as na daoine a ghlac páirt sa gCéilí Culaithirte. Agus an bhliain seo chugainn ba cheart go mbeadh a dhá oiread sin daoine gléasta go péacach.

Thanks for participating in the Costume Céilí. Next year let’s see double the numbers dressed up.
