Is there an word or phrase for "invoke" or "invocation"? I was not able to find any in my dictionary or the online dictionaries. I thought it might be something like "call upon" but didn't find that either...or "invite/invitation" but didn't want to use that if it wasn't correct.

Go raibh maith agaibh!

Abairt le do thoil!

Tá roinnt samplaí ag Focal:

http://www.focal.ie/Search.aspx?term=invoke

http://www.focal.ie/Search.aspx?term=invocation

Ach fainic; braitheann sé ar an gciall an bhfuil tú ag gairm nó ag agairt!

Gabh mo leithscéal. Mar shampla: "To invoke the spirit of the wind" nó "The invocation of the spirit of the wind". :)

Ceapim go bhfuil an dara sampla ceart.

Ní dóigh liom é:

Spiorad na gaoithe a ghairm

a bheadh ceart sílim: Agraíonn tú dlí nó rud mar é.

Go raibh maith agat, a Aonghuis, arís! :)

I also wondered about a good translation for the word "ground" as in "the positive charge in the wire was grounding into the metal pole" or something like that. It's hard to explain. Basically, I need a word that would convey the meaning of energy or electricity grounding.

An dócha é seo?

Bheadh sin cruinn ó thaobh na teicneolaíochta de cinnte. N'fheadar faoin bhrí mheafarach. Bheadh fonn orm féin rud éigin mar 'shlog an talamh an fuinneamh' a rá.
