Cad a mheasann tú fé "focal sean"? B'fhéidir go mbeadh sé sin oiriúnach.

an féidir leat "Seana-Ghaelainn" a úsáid? Ciallaíonn sé "old Irish" ach táid an céanna, beagnach, dar liomsa pé scéal é.

Ní bhfaighir faisnéis mara ndeinir fiafraí.

Ni doigh liom go dtig leat "sean" a dh'usaid i ndiaidh an ainmfhocail...

Ta "arsa" ceart go leor, grma a Iolainn.

Croga > bheadh an fhadhb chéarna le "seanfhocal" agus le "Sean-Ghaeilg", siocair go bhfuil ciall bheacht ag an bheirt acu, ie. proverb agus Old Irish (ie. an Ghaeilg a labhairti/scriobhtai eadar 700 is 1000, abair)...

Grma a chairde :-)

Aontaím leat, a Lughaidh, bheadh sé débhríoch go maith 'seanfhocal' a úsáid ó tharla é in úsáid go forleathan le haghaidh 'proverb' an Bhéarla. Is mar sin do 'Sean-Ghaeilge' chomh maith.

Focal ón chianaimsir?

Maidir le "an old word" meastú an bhféadfaí "iarbhéarla" a úsáid? Dar leis na foclóirí "archaic speech" is ciall leis sin.

Maidir le "seanchaint" an 'in "auld-fashioned talk" nó "backchat" a bheadh ar siúl ag páiste amhail is dá mba sheanduine é?

Agus Séamas Ó Murchú ag caint ar an gcnuasach Idir Shúgradh is Dháiríre le Máirtín Ó Cadhain i gComhar Dheireadh Fómhair na bliana 1980, scríobh sé:

"Prós liteartha atá ann ar ndóigh, taobh amuigh de na sliochtanna comhrá. Ach is prós é atá bunaithe go hiomlán beagnach ar Ghaeilge cheantar an údair, ar nós mar tá prós 'Mháire', abair, bunaithe ar Ghaeilge na Rosann. Tá corr-mheafar de chuid an údair thall is abhus ann, ach is beag é le hais a bhfuil i leabhra eile leis. Ar an gcaoi chéanna tá corr-fhocal ársa ann, tríd is tríd níl ann ach stór focal na gnáth-chainte." (Liomsa an bhéim)

Haha níl mé ach th'éis an abairt sin a léamh, agus chuimhnigh mé ar an gceist seo agus shíl mé sompla breise a thairiscint dhaoibh...
