A chairde,
(I posted this note yesterday on IGTF, but figured that there may be some interest on Daltaí as well.)

For those of you (like me) who have been a little skittish about spending big money on Rosetta Stone Irish, they're offering a free trial of the entire Irish program through the end of March:

http://investors.rosettastone.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=227935&p=irol-newsArticle_prin t&ID=1538546&highlight=

You can access the free trial through their Facebook page (facebook.com/RosettaStone). The Irish trial info is kind of buried on their FB site - you need to sort the "Wall" posts by Rosetta Stone to find it.

I just downloaded it, and will be testing it out for the next few weeks. Hopefully, it'll be worth it.

-GA

i just tested it a bit.

the overall process seems really good and well thought out. my only concern is that it sounds like the speakers are not native. some of their pronunciation seems off to me, although i am not native myself.

in particular, it seems they tend to stress syllables that have accents, as if they were speaking spanish or greek. for instance they consistently say "dheisiú" with the stress on the last syllable. maybe my pronunciation is wrong, but i thought it was on the first syllable.

They're fluent native speakers from Munster. That's how you say dheisiú in Munster.
