I need to know how you'd translate these sentences, taken from An Braon Broghach, page 98:

Tá tú i do chodladh. I do chodladh i gcaitheamh an achair. Agus buidéal eile oscailte agam ansin duit gan bearnú fós...

Níl. Gaotaireacht do bhéil féin atá sa mbuidéal sin, ach ní léir duit é, tá tú chomh hóltach sin aici. Ní i mo chodladh a bhí mé.

When you write "I was asleep", can you actually translate it (according to the context, not the specific pattern) to "sleeping I was not"?

You could but it is the "Níl" at the beginning of the speech that gives that emphatic note.
