quote:

Chonaic gach éinne go raibh aon bheart amháin éagóra ná ceadódh Brian ar aon tsaghas cleas ná réasún. B’í beart éagóra í sin ná masla thabhairt do mhnaoi.

[I updated the spelling of some words]

Ar aon tsaghas cleas ná réasún - I can't find it in dictionaries. I assume it means "under any pretext whatsoever".

It look like cleas and réasún are genitive plurals: literally : on any sort of games or reasons...

Is this right?

You need to be careful here as nouns following "sórt", and "saghas" as well, are left in the nominative in certain circumstances when "sórt" has an indefinite sense, like "sórt/saghas capall is ea é", "sórt ceol is ea é".
