Is as Rhiannon é seo, nach ea?

She rules her life like a bird in flight

Cad é atá cara duit a rá? mómhar? saor? gan éadaí?

I ndiaidh a chéile a thógtar na caisleáin.

Is fearr liom do leagansa.

Ní raibh "ar eiteog" ag rith liom, cé gur mhothaíos i gcúinne m'intinne go raibh a leithéid de nath ann.

Nach mar sin a chaith an rí Suibhne Gealt a chuid ama tar éis dó cúraimí an tsaoil a thréigean?

'The Birds of Rhiannon' feature in some old Welsh myth, can't think where I read it now.We had some Welsh friends over in the summer.Their eldest girl ,Rhiannon is ainm di,was chatting away as Bhreatnais with her kid sister. Our neighbours thought they were speaking as Gaeilge,is trua liom a rá.

They live in Cardiff, not the Gaeltacht and the Dad is English.Wish we could bottle that Welsh 'language gene'.Or genie!

Welsh has many times the number of native speakers who use the language daily than is the case in Ireland. What is more, Welsh is an urban as well as a rural language. You find the language spoken in town and country in its heartland. Welsh was also spoken by those working in heavy industries like coal mining. This was never the case in Ireland, even when we had millions of native speakers, apart from a few exceptions like Kilkenny City and New Ross, Co Wexford and Galway City.
