I'm looking to translate "Love yourself first"

I've found 2 possibilities:
"Bíodh grá agat duit féin ar dtús" and
"Tabhair grá duit féin is túisce"

Which would be more accurate, or any other suggestions?

Thank you,
Shane.

The first is accurate enough and grammatical.
The second is not.

"An seanchas gearr,
an seanchas is fearr."

Is it the idiomatic phrase that is used in Irish though? I don't know what the Irish should be, but it seems like something that requires an idiomatic phrase and not a direct translation.

"Tabhair grá duit féin" for "love yourself" is fine: it's the "is túisce" that's a problem.

Tabhair grá duit féin...
...ar dtús
...i dtosach
...i dtús báire
but not "is túisce".

Tá fáilte roimh chuile cheartú!

Bhfuil tú cinnte maidir leis an chiall sin le "Tús grá"?:

Céard faoi:

Tús áite do ghrá duit féin

Tús áite don fhéinghrá

(ach tá blas diúltach ar sin)

"Tús grá duit féin"

I like it! "The beginning of love is [love] for yourself."

But does "beginning" mean the same as "first"?

(Dála an scéil, chaith mé súil ar an gcorpas: Tá "Tús grá síordhearcadh" le fáil ann. Sin ceann deas)

ar dtú(i)s = first of all, in the beginnning, (Dinneen)

tús fíona an tábhairne; the choicest wine in the tavern
tús an phota; the best of the brew (Ó Dónaill)

Mar sin a bhíos-sa ag cuimhneamh.

Síordearcadh?? Nár chirte séimhiú ar an d sin?

Tá anois (cheartaigh mé romhat é!)

Is maith liom an chiall sin le tús, ach meas tú an dtuigfí go forleathan é?

(Tosach feasa fiafraitheacht!)

Dá dtuigfeadh muintir na Gaeltachta é, ní bheadh aon locht air. Mara dtuigfeadh chaithfimist leagan eile a cheapadh.

What if I were to drop the "ar dtús"?

Would "Bíodh grá agat duit féin" then translate to " Love yourself"?
