Further than those about bad English; after all, English hasn't been around as long.... |

Please note that this is in all likelihood one native speaker complaining about another native speaker's Irish in the same way today as snobs from Dublin 4 for example would deem the English of Ballyfermot as being "incorrect" and "ungrammatical" because it is a non-standard variety. However, the people of Ballyfermot are native English speakers and the notion that they cannot speak their own language properly is utterly absurd. The complaints today about "bad Irish" are almost always about learners who are native English speakers making a cock-up of the Irish language. That is a very different animal. One cannot equate these with the English of the people of Ballyfermot for example. |

Is fíor duit, a Charmanaigh, gan dabht. Aistriúcháin go Gaeilge atá sna téacsanna sa LS sin. Níl chuile chainteoir dúchais in ann téacs a thiontú ón Laidin go Gaeilge gan abairt chiotach nó dhó a fhágáil ann. "An seanchas gearr, an seanchas is fearr."
