I don't know if any of you have read this or not, but I thought it was an interesting idea. With the amount of people who are of Irish descent in the NYC area, it is not so unplausible.

I thought so as well. And if enough people would get behind this, I think it would create more of an incentive for Irish students to actively pursue the language, because it would prove that Irish is not "useless" in a career unless you work for the civil service. This would especially be the case iniatially, since almost all the teachers would be from Ireland.
