An bhfuil a fhios ag aon duine céard atá i gceist le 'toitíní barr coirc'. Tá sé scríofa i leabhar atá agam.

Tá duine sa scéal ag iarraidh 'deich gcinn de thoitíní barr coirc'.

Níl barúil agamsa!

Toitin is a cigarette, or rolled up tobacco.
Se mo thuairim, that the toitin may refer to something rolled up. Coirc is oats.
Mar sin, 'deich gcinn de thoitini barr coirc' may mean 'ten stacks(heads) of rolled oats' b'fheidir. Thats my theory on the matter, ach caithfead a ra nilim ro-chinnte chun na fhirinne a ra.

Okay, I'm thinking now after googling that it's cork-tipped filter cigarettes- the run of the mill cigarette, you know with the brown paper ends.

I think once upon a time they were a novelty, maybe handmade and came in a tin box (going by pics on google) so you could order them in ones.

I wonder could you call today's cigarettes 'toitíní barr coirc' or is the cork less of an issue...

How's that Sineadw, 06:24!! Yeah, I used to smoke the little horrors in my wayward youth. Thankfully not any more.

Cool! :) I can't even remember what I was doing at 6.24pm haha I'm in a different time zone here :)

What was the difference between the cork tipped and the now cork pattern tips? Was there a different taste? Or basically the same?

B'fhéidir é a Shéasáin. Níl mé in ann an pictiúr cuí a fháil ar Google seachas pictiúir de na cinn nua-aimseartha..

Tá fhios agam go bhfuil "coirceog" an focal Gaeilge ar "cone". An mbeadh sé féidir go bhfuil "coirc" leagan gearr ar "coirceog"?{I might be clutching at straws here :-)}

A Séasán, na bí ag tabhairt buillí faoi thuairim fiáine, maith an fear. Cuirfidh tú mearbhall ar dhaoine.

Tá ciall leis an méid a d'oibrigh Sinéad amach.

Cén fadhb atá agat?Tá mise ag baint triail as cabhrú le Sinéad,cosúil le gach duine eile anseo.NÍOR ABAIR MÉ RIAMH GO RAIBH AN CEART AGAMSA ar chor ar bith.Níl ann ach smaoineamh a abhí agam agus má bhíonn mé ag cur daoine anseo trína gcéile,tá an-aiféala orm.

Ar scéal eile níl an ceart agat le do litriú do "A Séasán"-is é "A Shéasáin" an téarma cheart nuair a bhíonn aon duine in agallamh liomsa as Gaeilge.

quote:

A Shéasáin" an téarma cheart

An ceart agat, dar ndóigh. Mo leithscéal faoin sciorradh méire.

Tuigim go bhfuil tú ag iarradh cabhrú, ach i gcéad duit, an bhfaca tú nó ar chuala tú riamh faoi toitín choirceogach?

Tá "barr coirc" breá soiléir.

Focal theicniúil, nach mbeadh fairsing sa chaint, is ea "coirceog".

Sé an rud ná go mbíonn daoine atá ag tosú amach ag foghlaim na Gaeilge anseo, agus d'fhéadfá mearbhall a chuir orthu. Ba cheart go mbeadh bunús éigin le pé moladh atá agat, seachas bheith "clutching at straws"

A dhuine uasal, nuair a bhíonn mise san éagóir,is mise mé féin an céad duine é sin a admháil.

Níor chuala mé riamh faoi toitín barr coirc nó toitín coirceogeach ach cheap mé go raibh cló an toitín i gceist,go mór mhór an pointe ag barr an thoitín.

Agus an réasún eile, baineann mé taithneamh as páirt a ghlacadh sna hagallaimh anseo-má tá sé ceart go leor libh.

Mar a deir mé,níl ann ach smaoineamh a bhí i m'intinn ach tuigim an argóint atá á dhéanamh agat faoi sin.
