Haigh, a chairde!

Tá tionscadail nua agam. Tionscnóidh mo dhearthár ar Macintosh a úsáid ina stiúideo sa bhaile, agus tabharfaidh sé a PC dom ar praghas íseal.

Insealbhóidh mé na dioscaí crua ón sean-aonad san aonad nua. Níl ach aon port PATA amháin ar an máthairchlár nua agus caithfidh mé sonraí as aon diosca crua go diosca SATA a aistriú. Táim dá dhéanamh anois.

Tá dhá córais oibriúcháin ar dioscaí ar leith agam, Win98 agus Win2000. Gheobhaidh mé WinXP sa díol agus cuirfidh mé é ar an diosca a tagann leis an aonad nua.

Tabharfaidh mé an sean-aonad do mo mháthair leis an diosca lú.

Tine, siúil liom!

quote:

sa díol

"In the sales", an ea? Níl mé cinnte cén Ghaeilge ceart a bheadh ar seo: "San saorreic" sílim, ach tá "sa díol" mícheart.

leis an diosca is|níos lú, nó leis an diosca beag

"in the deal" = sa mhargadh

"Seo, déanaimis margadh! Bíodh ina mhargadh (eadrainn)!" a deirtí ag an aonach fadó nuair a bhíodh bó nó muc á díol.

[Hey, a Thaidhgín, why "á díol" and not "á dhíol"?

Freagra / Answer: "bó" and "muc" are feminine and this "á" is actually the réamhfhocal / preposition "ag" and the possessive adjective "a" combined = "at its selling" is the literal meaning or "being sold" the meaning in this case.... This is not a grammatical point that is essential to an understanding of the meaning. It is a nice refinement but sadly, with one and a half million learners chattering away happily, me included, it is likely to be lost and forgotten.]

Yeah I heard before that you rarely hear native speakers saying 'á déanamh' or 'á díol' etc. without pronouncing the séimhiú, even when it's a feminine noun in question.

Níor obair gach rud mar a raibh pleanáilte agam. Ní feidir liom Win2k nó 98 ar an ríomhaire a chur, níl tacaíocht seasmhach don rialaitheoir dioscaí crua. Ach obraíonn WinXP go mhaith. Caithfidh mé cárta físeanna níos fearr a cheannach.
